About Mert Sermet

Hi I’m Mert Sermet, New England Conservatory trained cellist and member of the Las Vegas Philharmonic. I love “singing” with my cello and playing pieces not necessarily intended for my instrument. Don’t get me wrong, I love playing classical music, but wanted to do more than play the same 8 notes of Pachelbel’s Canon ad nauseum or laying down bass lines for my wonderful violin colleagues. With my custom backing tracks I can now play famous solos previously reserved for the violin and electric guitar. My repertoire spans over 300 hundred years from Bach to current pop hits and a little bit of everything in between. I can start off with soothing classical music on my acoustic cello, and finish off with classic rock tunes on my electric cello. While I have had the privilege of playing with many famous artists, I like to say that my favorite performance is the one I’m currently playing.
